Gary Sinise falls on hard times...

Luckily for me, he's found work as a plummer!
(Okay... It's not Gary, and you can't really tell from this picture because he got all shy on me and ducked his head, but he really DOES look a lot like him.)
Two of our old house blues are being taken care of today. The spewing drain pipe for the washer has been thoroughly routed out (yay! I can wear clean underwear again!). That took awhile - apparently it was a really long pipe with lots of branches.

So here's the view from the downstairs bathroom. "Gary" pulled the overflow cover off and discovered that there was no gasket, which would explain the waterfall in the downstairs bathroom when Z-boy was making waves in the tub upstairs. He replaced the gasket, but in the process the pipe separated at the threads of the bend closest to the ceiling. And when I ran the water to test the overflow, I heard panicked "STOP! STOP!" from downstairs. He's working on it now and not having a whole lot of fun with it either.

Maybe he'll have more fun with this. He spotted it in my kitchen and asked about it, saying that his kids would love something like that. It's by Frigates, but I couldn't remember where my husband got it. Lucky my husband got back home from his bike ride while "Gary" was still here and could tell him. It's really, really cool. The goal is to get the marble from the top to the bottom using these pieces. Very neat. I think I know what someone's getting for Christmas!!!!!

He's got a whole beard right now, so the effect might not be the same, but when he's mustache-only, he's VERY Sam. I guess I go for the craggy guy look. I'll see if I can find a mustache-only, but if I can't maybe you can imagine the beard part gone...

You took a picture of your plumber and told him he looked like Gary Sinise!? That rocks!

Did you tell him you wanted to put it on your blog, too?

I didn't tell him since it is SO OBVIOUS if you're actually looking at his face. He's got that southern accent going too. But I did take his picture which I'm sure he thought was odd. Didn't tell him about the blog. I suppose that's a little underhanded but I just couldn't get over the resemblance. My husband thought he looked like him too. Definitely something around the eyes....

Now now, don't tease. What is the name of the mousetrap Rube Goldberg contraption on your fridge???

I MUST HAVE IT.

That's the coolest thing since magnetic poetry. I still keep 4x6 cards where I wrote down my favorite poems by friends visiting our house, like:

"Never scream in bed.
It will be repressed."
-Cody, age 11

"Don't taunt my blue boy."
-Kevin, age 26

Ha! You wouldn't have dated this Kevin at some point would you???

I'm not sure what that thing on the fridge is called. It has the word "Frigates" on it, which I'm assuming means something. Hubby got it at a "specialty" toy store so I don't know if it's a Toys-R-Us kind of item.
