Post-script on the Bus...

Today was good. We got there in time, he got on the bus. We introduced ourselves and the bus driver introduced herself and told Z-boy to get on and sit right behind her (guess after yesterday she knew she had a mama-bear on her hands).

This afternoon, I got there just before the bus, and here came my grinning boy - so proud of himself and bursting at the seams.

No drama. Okay, maybe a little.

Z-boy got up early, ate his breakfast and got dressed. Got his bookbag together. Beat me out to the car - so determined that he was going to be on that bus this morning. I parked the car and we waited, talking about people using bushes as noise barriers instead of concrete walls. Then, oh joy, the bus started coming down the hill. He jumped up and down, pointing excitedly, then suddenly stopped and turned to me, eyes wide. "Oh no!" he whispered. "I have to poop!"

If he weren't so serious, I'd have burst out laughing right then. Instead I told him it was decision time. Come home with me, use the bathroom and I would take him to school - OR - get on the bus and hold it for half an hour until he got to the school. After a few seconds of thought, he decided he could make it.

Believe me. If that's all the drama that happens in a day, I'm a happy camper.

I didn't get any phone calls from the school requesting clean pants or underwear, so I'm guessing he did...

Another post script... He wasn't on the bus this afternoon. Never got on. Just as I was getting back in my car to go to the school, the school called.

I guess he wasn't clear that this was how things were going to be. Now he knows... unless we say otherwise - he RIDES THE BUS.

Sigh. Give me patience.
