Monday, Monday

Get out your pens and pencils, ladies... it's time to write our odes!

Unfortunately, they won't be to me. Quinn is the most likely. Nikki had to drop out due to shoulder surgery. Anna's computer died. The other Nikki (Bite My Ass) has been suspiciously quiet - she may be putting us all to shame but doesn't want us to know until the great reveal! So that leaves Muffin-Top Factor 10 (jen), HappyKat, and Mama C. ~d never checked in and "me" has had other concerns (congratulations on a great conference!).

I am still 220. I tried to put on some size 18s yesterday, but the zipper only went half-way up. Actually, that's progress. The last time I tried that, I couldn't even reach the zipper!

But I wouldn't say that Operation Lose That Ass has been a waste of time for me. In fact, it has been instrumental in some changes that I've made. My son and I have been walking to school. For me that's an hour of hilly walking. The first time I did it, I thought I was going to die. I had to stop twice on the way back up the hill and sit down to quiet my racing heart and heaving chest. Today, I didn't stop at all and didn't even feel winded. My legs aren't rubbery and I haven't zombie'd out. I eat breakfast everyday. I've ridden my bike to work and not been killed. My Thursday lunch with my cousin is evolving... used to be Cheeseburger, Fries and Sweet Tea. It has morphed into Cheeseburger and Salad. This week, I'm dropping the Cheeseburger in favor of something lighter or possibly nothing else. Next week, the sweet tea goes. My coffee consumption has gone WAY down. Some days I don't have any. My water consumption has gone WAY up. Some days, that's all I drink. Yesterday, I bought a key lime pie because I had a taste for it. By the time I had my dinner (soup), I'd forgotten about it - only remembered this morning because it was there when I opened the fridge. Except for the fact that I have a sweet tooth for a husband, I might just let it sit in there to see how long it lasts. He will probably open it and devour half this afternoon....

So even though I didn't win this competition, I feel like a winner. I've made some very positive changes in my lifestyle and will continue to do so. Sooner or later, those changes will show up in my pants size and my weight. Just you wait and see - there are 6 months to my birthday and I will be a different person (well, on the outside) by then.

Get your pens ready...

It's the lifestyle changes that are all important.

My wife and I decided we wanted to be healthier and have more quality time together when the kids leave home. Lets face it, if we're lucky we'll have another 30 years, but probably less - so we'd rather have it in good health. By focusing on healthy eating, we are a great deal healthier, and as a by-product, we have both lost over 85lbs.

Resolve to be healthy and your body will return to a natural weight.

Sayre - you did good. And I'm sorry about the late posts - I was trying to be good with pictures.

Please don't shoot me.

Sayre you're making the correct choice. You're choosing the territory over the map. Your life and how you live it over a guage on a scale.

Good. Don't worry- over time the scale WILL go down. Making lifestyle changes means you're changing your body right down to its chemical and molecular composition. That takes time.
