Hurry, hurry, hurry!

Thursday night, my husband and I were chatting (like we sometimes do), and he mentioned that he'd cleared a space in the livingroom for the Christmas tree.

You remember my livingroom, don't you? It's the room painted a hideous garish white and full of STUFF that we don't know what to do with. Last weekend I began moving some of that stuff downstairs after cleaning down there, but there was still a lot in there to be sorted and/or tossed.

"Oh, NO! Honey, you can't!" I wailed. I have PLANS for that room. It needs to be cleared out; it needs to be painted. I don't want to spend my Christmas in that ugly, ugly room!

"So? When is all this supposed to happen?" he asked.

"This weekend! I just need you and boy to be gone."

So this morning, Darling Man got up, went to work for a few hours, came home, got ready for KenPo, went, picked up his truck (new brakes), and he and boy were out of my hair by 1pm! And I got to work! I painted the whole living room! I moved the recliners and the piano and all the junk and got the walls painted their first coat. Then I went to work on the nasty windows - got them all sparkly and their hardware works now. Then I did the second, texture-y coat, had dinner, and started the third mellow-er coat. I got about a third of the third coat done before my knees gave out. I shall arise early tomorrow, finish the third coat, paint the ceiling and the woodwork, clean the carpet, move the piano back and clean the rest of the room, hang blinds and curtains.

THEN we'll have a room for Christmas!!!!

So if you've been wondering where I've been...

My dad decided to repaint the family room this past week. Of course he didnt clear the color OR the timing with my mom. Needless to say she was none too thrilled when she came home from work.:(

wow, you're industrious! I couldn't/wouldn't do all that work by myself! Hope it turns out great!

The industrious apple doesn't fall far from the once industrious tree. You are your Momma's daughter, except she did it with four kids under foot! The original 20 hour woman.

There's nothing like the smell of a freshly-painted room. The "poor man's cocaine" I like to call it.

Janet - oh, no! I hope everything has settled down now. What color did he pick????

Kim - you lazy bum... I WISH I could get away with a midday nap. Having kids definitely gets you up and going because something ALWAYS needs to be done.

Apricoco - I've always been that way. I'm just a do-er. And I love power tools!

Dad - I remember those days. You could almost time a baby's arrival by when the kitchen cabinets got emptied out to be repainted...

BroLo! Long time, no see! I hope Rome is treating you well. Thank goodness the weather's been nice here. I could open the windows and let most of the fumes out. Still wound up with a killer headache after the first day, though.

UPDATE! The walls and woodwork are DONE! I pushed the piano back up against the wall and arranged the recliners, leaving my husband's original cleared space for the tree. I just have to finish painting the ceiling and tidy up - and we're READY to commence the holiday joyfulness!

That sounds like alot of work....I don't want to sound pickity or whatever....but just a FYI when you paint ..you really should wait 24 hours in between each coat of paint....even though the paint will be dry to the touch within a couple of hours it needs the full 24 hours to cure properly and be ready for the second coat...
I am dreading next spring because I will have to paint my entire inside of my house I am not kidding and because of the drying time needed realistically it will likely take me a couple of weeks to complete it properly and without killing myself.

As for this weekend...You and I will both be pretty darn sore tomorrow hubby and I worked again on the flooring.. we had compelted the kitchen a couple weeks ago and with me being too sick last weekend we had to wait to this weekend to do that hallway...

We worked on it all day today and we just finished the hall but we are still not completely finished..we still have to do the front doorway and the front hall closet...decided if we are going to do the powder room or not ..and finish putting the quarter round on.

we will finish hopefully next weekend if we are all healthy enough.

Hey, Quinn! I actually do know about the 24 hour rule, but these coats of paint were supposed to blend together. The effect is actually very cool. I shall post pictures when I am finished with it all - including the horrible, ugly before pics.

I hope your flooring gets done quickly now that you're all relatively healthy again. I want to see what you're doing!
