Another adventurous Sunday

Darling Man was off freelance basketball-ing again, so Z-boy and I were on our own today. Before he left, Darling Man said, "Make sure he gets out and gets some exercise today. He doesn't need to sit on his butt all day playing video games."

Like that ever happens. Okay, well, once in a while it happens. But not today.

First, we had a huge fight.

Me: "Honey - go put on your shoes."
Z-boy: "No."
Me: "Come on, boy - let's go! We need to do something today!"
Z-boy: "I don't want-a. I want to sit here and turn into a lump of lard."
Me: "Get your shoes on and your butt out in the car RIGHT NOW, or you will have one wore out be-honky!"

He got in the car. When I threaten his be-honky, he knows I'm serious.

I told him I didn't want to hear another word - absolute silence. He was quiet and sullen and kept his head down in the back seat. I could hear him breathing.

We drove for about 5 minutes, then I pulled into a dirt lot next to the road with lots of trees. I parked the car, got out and opened his door. By now he was sitting up and looking around curiously. "Get out," I said.

He got out and followed me on a little path through the woods. We came to a clearing and I heard him whisper, "Wow."

It's probably about 200 to 250 years old. It's SO old that its bottom branches meet the ground. Z-boy was instantly in love.

This is part of a property called "Litchgate". It's probably 5 acres and contains some wide open field, a vegetable garden, a flower garden, and a magical cottage that is an exact duplicate of one in England.

When I was little, I wanted to live in this house. My grandmother knew the woman who lived there, and we went to visit one day. On the ground floor is a large wooden room (the whole house is a light cherry-type wood) with a kitchen and a bathroom off one side, and an enclosed loft bedroom upstairs. That's it. It's tiny and perfect for one person. You look at it and believe in faeries and elves and dragons and witches.

Lots more happened today, but I need to go to bed now. Our adventures only just BEGAN at Litchgate.

Great pictures. I love that smile on your boy. He looks like my youngest when he smiles!

What a fantastic place!

Oh, and on your Disney test,I tied between Goofy and The Beast (from Beauty and the Beast). Clearly looks aren't my strong point :)
