Guacamole, Scary Basements, Idiots all Around

I hate guacamole. This is treason in a person who loves Mexican food as much as I do, but it is the truth. HOWEVER, my husband makes guacamole that even I will eat - and enjoy!

Scoop out the Florida (more water in it for a creamier texture) avacado into a bowl, sprinkle liberally with Nellie and Joe's Key Lime Juice and a couple of pinches of Kosher salt. Chop up some tomato (we like different colors). Use a large whisk to mash the avacado, then stir in the bits of tomato. Use white corn tortilla chips to dip. We ate the whole thing. Instead of being a guacamole hater, I have become a guacamole snob.

I finally worked up my nerve to go down to the scary basement to change the air filter in the air conditioner. It's been a while and I started to feel that perhaps it was time. Ever since the plumber guys were here and I found the mummified rat, I've been a bit squirrelly about going down there. Tottie came along for protection though, so a filter-changin' I went.

Um. Yeah. That filter? S'posed to be white.

Yesterday, I got caught at the train tracks. I was the second car back and the arms with the flashy lights came down and the big red lights were a ding-ding-ding-ing away. I can see the train coming with it's headlight and it's coming pretty fast. The car in front of me decided that I should be first in line and pulled halfway over into the oncoming lane to drive around the crossing arms. He was thwarted by a pickup truck coming the other way - driving around the crossing arms...

Um.. hello? Cars? You're not going to win.

Not all idiots are human. Some of them are feline. Meet Tottie.

Pretty, huh? She looks much better in 3-D than she does flat, but I can't seem to get that through her dumb blonde head. I came home and she was in the driveway. I eased up toward her and she didn't move. I honked the horn. She didn't move. I got out and nudged her to her feet with my foot. She sashayed over to the edge of the driveway and as soon as I turned around to go back to the car, she returned to her previous spot, sat down, lifted her leg and began washing her butt. I honked at her again and she stopped mid-lick to look at me as if to say, "Whaaattttt???" Imagine a teenager saying this and you'll have the right idea. I got back out of the car, picked her up and tossed her over to the grass. She shook off, looked at me like I as crazy and headed for the bushes.

That's one cat that's a few bulbs short of a chandalier.

I was waiting in line at a red light when I noticed the car in front of me. A pink cadillac.

With the Mary Kay insignia on it. I had no idea they still did that. I remember someone trying to recruit me way back in the 80's to sell MK and they used the Pink Cadillac as an inducement. Wow. I didn't go for it then - and I'm not sure I'd go for that now!

I wish it would rain. I can't remember the last time it rained. I think everyone in town saw the five day forecast today and realized that if their lawns were going to survive spring, they'd have to start watering, because I think I saw a ba-zillion sprinklers going this afternoon. Z-boy thought it was a great idea though - and used the opportunity to brush up on his sprinkler-running skills.

Sayre - Oh my god! You're guacamole is to die for! I just made it, it's so simple and fast. (I must say, I always love guacamole, but this one was particularly yummy) thanks for the new recipe.

Enjoyed visiting with J and J today. I heard you were in the middle of moving. Bring the fam and come to the lake house when the water warms up.
J has my cell #.

When I was little I wanted a Mary Kay pink cadillac so bad. Then I found out I'm allergic to everything Mary Kay.

PS. Try adding some chopped up boiled chick-peas to your guac. It sounds awful but it's delish.

I LOVE guacamole. The only thing I don't like about is how it looks after a day or two of sitting around. It turns this weird shade of green brown. If you stir it though, it's all good. It's weird and a bit unsettling actually LOL:)

I love that sprinkler picture! It made me want to run through one myself.

Your basement looks like mine only better! We can't even fit any cars in the two garage parts of ours, lol.
