Out of the Fog, Into the Light

I had forgotten what it was like to feel GOOD. Ever since Christmas, I've been having health problems. First, severe acid reflux and GERD. Then the cure was worse than the disease!!! It set off another whole round of weird issues. Then I was put on steriods. Yuck. Couldn't breathe, couldn't exert myself without getting seriously winded, was ravenous all. the. time. Ate whatever I could put in my mouth. And still felt like someone was scooping my stomach out with a giant shovel. Horrible and out-of-control. For a control freak like me, that was almost more upsetting than anything else.

But this morning? I woke up alive. Really alive. Like I haven't been in months. I'm done with the steroids. My hunger has returned to normal levels. And I cleaned. I mean really cleaned. As in all day to clean to the bathroom. Top to bottom, behind the toilet, washing the walls and handscrubbing the floor clean.

Yes, the walls are still pink. I have bought some lovely light gray to paint over the pink and the misguided stab at yellow. It will render the bathroom perfectly neutral so that the color can come from accessories and be changed according to whim. The tub hasn't been this clean since we moved in (or before that either, I'd wager). It needs to have the edges scraped and recaulked. Couldn't get rid of the black - and not for lack of trying.

When I finished with the bathroom, I started on the kitchen.

This house doesn't really look half bad when it's cleaned up. It just doesn't stay that way, and not just becasue of US. It generates its own film of dirt. The varnish on the wood floors is flaking up too, which just makes everything seem filthy - even when it's clean...

Z-boy was in the groove too. I bought him two large plastic boxes to sort his Legos and Bionicles into, which started out well, but devolved into him trying to build stuff instead. By bed time, his room looked even WORSE than this!

Thank goodness Elvis was around to help us with the bathrooms.....

Cute Elvis. Your house is immaculate. Wow. (I guess mine's gone to the pooper cause I'm sitting here playing on the internet instead of cleaning)

Heheh.
