Decisions, decisions

It's nice not to have to decide certain things - like who lives and who dies; red or white; this family event or that one... you know - those decisions where someone has to be the bad guy.

So I have this conundrum, self-imposed. I have another blog. Some members of my extended family post over on Xanga and I've been going over to visit - but found that in order to comment, I had to sign up (it's free). So now I have this other blog, and I'm not sure what to do with it.

Right now, it consists of a link to bring people back over to this one and an avatar picture of some daisies I took in my front yard.

What to do, what to do.

This blog evolved into something other than what I'd originally intended, but that's okay. I like what it's become... a way to keep in touch with far-flung friends and family with the little this-n-that of daily life. Might be kind of boring for the rest of you sometimes, but hey... you keep coming back so it must not be THAT bad.

My buddy Jeff over at Psychosomatic Wit is having an identity crisis with his own blog. I can understand this... He's a writer - he wants to write. But he's found himself falling into the meme-trap and his blog isn't at all what he wants it to be - well, not what he intended anyway.

So what do we writers and want-to-be-writers do with a blank page? We fill it. And when inspiration is in short supply, blogworld often supplies a muse in the form of a meme or a quiz. Sometimes, those time-wasters can be good inspiration if thought on long enough. I understand Jeff's dilemma, because mine is similar. But I have a solution. A new blog. A new start.

I just can't decide yet what it's to be. Any suggestions, Muses?

AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH! You are not allowed to ditch this blog! You got that Missy! (shakes finger violently)

If you do start another blog- maybe a short story blog? (but you have to keep this one going! Elvis would get pissed off!)

First off your blog is definitely not boring. :D

Secondly, I have the same trouble Jeff does, except I have no desire to be a writer, lol. I find I spend 90% of my designated blogging time trying to think of something to post and the other 10% worrying.. "Oh hell, maybe I shouldn't have posted that."

Mine too drifted in a direction I did not originally intend.. unless it is a niche blog.. I think they all tend to do that somewhat.

And what is the problem with having more than one blog? Even on different venues? As long as we all know where we can find you, so we can lurk around in all your blogs!

Not to change the subject, but the email I have for you seems to be wrong. I wanted to let you know that it is finally fixed. I pinned on lieutenant colonel yesterday! :)

As you know, I have been trying to start a new blog just about spiritual things. Of course I haven't been able to do that yet, but that is my intent. My advice, and I am obviously unqualified to give it ;) ) is to make the other blog something more specific in topic. That way, when you just feel like blabbing, you have this one. The other is reserved for the specific topic (the one that you feel strongly about the most but tend to neglect here).

That is my plan, anyway.

Just don't go where I can't follow, Mr. Frodo!

I second having two blogs. Although when I tried it, I found I didn't have time to keep up with my original one. I'd hate it if that happened with yours!

By the way, I've been trying to comment here for FOREVER and never could get the blogger comment window to load. UGH! So glad I finally got in!

I don't know about the other blog also known as "the mistress blog". I say you keep this one, but that's bc it's all I've known. If you decide not to though, can we go with you to your new home?

I'm planning to keep this blog - the other one is the one that's up in the air as to how I will use it.

I'm still thinking.

BTW - I haven't been on line much the last couple of days.... we're in the middle of painting and packing and falling into bed exhausted at the end of the day.

The dilemma only comes when you stop writing for yourself and start writing for what you think your readers want. In fact they became your regular readers because they liked what you wrote in the first place. When you feel you have to start filling in a blank page and it becomes a chore, you've lost sight of why you blogged in th first place.

Chill out. Write when you want to, don't write when you don't want to. I know several bloggers who are very sporadic on their own blog but regularly comment on every one elses. No one really minds. Just be true to yourself :)

I know you made your decision already but I am just making double sure you know - Please don't abandon your blog. I can't bear you and Nikki going away!
