The Case of the Disappearing Fingernails

I have been a nail biter for most of my life. It was an unconscious habit that I seemed to have no control over. I very deliberately tried to stop biting my nails, but nothing I did seemed to help.

Then, one day, I noticed that I had fingernails. Nicely shaped, strong. I have no idea how they got there. And no idea how I quit biting my nails. I just stopped one day and never realized it until I accidently scratched myself with them. Since ignoring them seemed to work well for me, I continued to do so. No manicures for me!!! No polish, no cuticle remover, no buffers. I had a guy stop me in the mall one day trying to sell me some "natural nail stuff" because I had such nice natural nails. I turned him down and continued my program of ignoring my hands.

Until today....
I started late. I didn't even get my book until Sunday and read snatches of it between my daily life until the guys went to bed. Then I read until 1am and my eyes were closing despite myself.
Monday, I got up, did stuff, went to work - and again, waited until the boys went to bed to start reading. Made it until 3am. My husband called around 8:30 this morning, so I got up, made breakfast for me and the boy, then sat down in my chair and started reading.
My husband came home from work around lunch time and started laughing when he walked in... I was almost done!!! Hush up, man! Go away for a bit so I can finish this!!!

It is done. I cried at the end. Thank you, J.K. Rowling, for this wonderful ride.

Now I need to grow some new fingernails.

I always break my fingernails! Aaron is the nail biter in the family.

Yep. I have decided to be Albus Dumbledore when I grow up. Without the beard. Mine is too itchy.

Your Harry cover is very different from mine. I wept a few tears but liked the ending...(not at all what I would have guessed). Those late nights reading were worth it.

I heard that the last book was great. I didn't really follow the Harry Potter books but I admire J.K. Rowling for her ability to tell an amazingly engaging (obviously) tale.

got the book on Monday and have finished it today. Sorry to see them end. Great read.

The Eragon books are good too. Waiting for book three on that series.

My nails are doing fine all by themselves. Never polished, never shaped...but then, I'm only on page 234.

I've not bought the book yet, cuz I knew I would be exactly like you and I don't have time yet to just sit and read it. I can't wait though! Glad you enjoyed it.
thanks for checking in on me...been a rough few weeks. thanks.

I'm halfway through and I have neglected so much today to keep reading. I had to read #6 first (for some reason I didn't read it when it came out. I can't remember why), but that was okay, because I read #6 while Rachael was devouring #7.

AND we're on #2 of the movies - we decided to go back and watch them all in order before I go see the one in the theater (the kids have already seen it once, but they will see it again with me).

I got mine Sunday night. Hubs made me wait until after dinner to start reading. I did stop for bath time. I was up until almost 3 AM. I could not put it down. It was AWESOME! Then I got up at 6, got ready for work, and stood up at the bookstore handing out more HP's all day. I have still not recovered. But it was worth it!
