ZBoy has been looking forward to this Christmas in a big way. I'm not sure why, exactly, but he's been chattering about Santa and reindeer and being a good boy. Pondering the specifics of how Santa deals with time and exactly when he should go to bed and be asleep.
He picked this stocking out for himself - and he is indeed a very, very, very good boy!
There was the question of where we would hang the stockings... for the first time in his life, we don't have a fireplace. We compromised by hanging them on the little table by the front door. It's in the same room as the Christmas tree, and we all know that the first thing Santa does is check out your tree when he gets to your house!
We set the milk, cookies and carrots on the piano so that Santa would get them - and so that Kida wouldn't.
ZBoy has a very personal relationship with Santa. Last year, he left a notebook out when he went to bed. It was full of his drawings. Santa found it and wrote him a note saying how much he enjoyed looking at his pictures.
So this year, ZBoy drew a picture just for Santa.
He left carrots for all 8 regular reindeer, plus three more - for Rudolph, Chet, and Robbie.
At age 8, my son knows that Santa is not a real person - at least not anymore. But he does believe in the magic of Santa's spirit, the spirit of giving, the spirit of love. He would like to be Santa himself one day. Son - when you have children of your own, you WILL be Santa.
Santa (me) and his elf (ZBoy) deliver toys for tots last year.
