Miss me much?

The timing couldn't have been worse - or better.

The day after Christmas, my computer apparently caught some kind of virus and died ignobly of the "flu". Oh, it hung in there for a few days, pretending that our DSL line was to blame, but in the end, it was the computer that died. It lived a good, long life - mostly because I am too cheap to actually buy a new computer until absolutely pressed to do so.

The fact that there were nearly two more weeks to go before ZBoy was back in school and I would be free to go back to work to write my blog or peruse yours was a dismal thing. I couldn't even access my email properly. I could see that people were commenting, but I couldn't see what you said. It was a total bummer.

Other people missed me too. Like my parents. They like reading my blog and do so on a daily basis whether they comment or not.

So yesterday, my father called and asked if I'd done anything about getting a new computer. When I said "no", he said, "Meet me at CompUSA at 11am" and hung up. CompUSA is going out of business so everything is on sale.

At 11am, ZBoy and I pulled up in front just before Dad. We went into the store, found a guy named Bruce and proceeded to quiz him about his computers. And I walked out with a brand new HP Pavillion just like my old one, which I loved, but 6 years newer. Courtesy of Dad!

I think this might be my Christmas and Birthday presents for the next few years - which is just fine with me.

There was payback though.

One of the things my father does with his time is produce a weekly public affairs radio program for the little radio station in his town. He gets to pick the topic, does the interviews, edits it, and delivers a complete package to be aired on Saturday mornings.

After our adventure at CompUSA, he came back to my house and we settled in with cups of coffee and he interviewed me about the digital transition - a DTV for dummies in essence because the information I gave him had to be understandable by the Everyday Joes who listen to his station.

Which brings me to my next post. As promised, I will be writing about the digital transition, answering the questions that you asked a while ago when I asked for them. It will be my first post on my new computer!!!!

In the meantime, I have a lot of visiting to do, a lot of catching up. Because as much as you may have missed me - I missed you more!

So glad you're back! I think I'd have a breakdown of sorts if my computer suddenly broke down on me. It's a very scary thought...
