Fun Monday - My Bucket List

Tiggerlane at the Neophyte Blogger is hosting Fun Monday this week! In a rather thoughtful turn, she's asked us to search our hearts and souls:

Have you heard of The Bucket List? Well, that's what I want from you! Make a list of things you want to do before you die. It must be at least five items - and you can make it as long as you desire. Photos are optional. And let's hear about some of the wackiest, most bizarre to-do's on your Bucket List!

As it happens, death has been on my mind lately (see post below), but not mine necessarily. Getting older brings it closer, so as friends begin the process of crossing over, you spend more time thinking about it. And what you want to do before it's your turn to cross that bridge.

1) I would like to write a novel - one that doesn't wind up on the remainder table at Barnes & Noble. I've done part one of that sentence. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and fixing some problems. Whether or not it meets the fate of part two of that sentence remains to be seen. In fact, whether it gets published at all remains to be seen. I'd like that to happen before I kick the bucket.

2) I want to see what kind of man my son turns out to be. It's a promising start, but as we all know, there are no guarantees in life. I'm hoping that he turns out to be as wonderful, caring, loving and artistic as a grown up as he is as a child.

3) I would like to see all of my brothers happy. They are a unique and marvelous bunch and I love them to pieces. But like all lives, theirs have had some major bumps in their roads. I would like to see them driving on dry, smooth pavement.

4) If they hadn't decommissioned them... I have always wanted to fly to London on the Concorde. That, of course, will never happen now - but it's the only actual "before I die" wish I'd ever had.

5) I would like to get my body back to optimum health and peak performance for a woman my age. Then perhaps I can have A LOT more time to work on this list and fulfill some of my wishes.

I have to say, this was a tough assignment. Mostly because all in all, I'm pretty happy with the way things are going. There's not much that I yearn for because it is difficult or unattainable in regular life. In fact, I've never thought of anything that I couldn't achieve if I put my mind to it... with the possible exception of number 4, which was wholly taken out of my hands. Okay, I guess the only things actually IN my hands are number 1 and number 5, but you get the drift.

Go see what everyone else wants to do/accomplish - visit Tiggerlane for the complete list of participants.

Great list! Best of luck with number 1 and I have faith that you will achieve number 5.

I wish you well with your list. You have a good point about number 5. With such a good attitude, you will probably have little trouble in achieving number 5.

Great list. Good luck with number 5 - if you sort that one out, the others should fall into place in time.

It's nice you're satisfied with your life and don't need or want much more. Most people never get that. I'm happy for you!

Dang...how did I forget the whole body thing on my list? That should be numero uno on mine...get back to pre-baby weight (and my baby will be FOUR in a couple months!!!)

Just reading your list I'd say that both your son and brothers are lucky to have you in their corners--love the sentiment of hoping they get to make their life travels on smooth pavement.

Your list is wonderful. And hey? It's not your fault if you can't do it because it was taken out of your hands. I'm sure you will accomplish the rest.

Oh man flying to London on the Concorde was a big one for me too before they had all their problems. It is so good to see our loved ones smooth sailing instead of suffering...

I think the Concorde riding was scratched off a lot of people's lists when they decommissioned it.

Flying on Concorde was always one of my dreams. I live about a mile from where the last one landed in the UK and I have visited this one as it's now open to th public!

That Concorde flight would have been something I would have loved also.

First of all, I'm sorry to read about JL. So sad :o( And I hear you about looking at the obits more now (I'm 44) because I find myself doing the same thing. It sounds like you're pretty content in life and that's the best bucket list of all!
