Astounded

For those of you who do not know, I also have a weight-loss blog where I try desperately to keep track of how I'm doing in the battle of the bulge. My diagnosis with Type II Diabetes last January has been a huge spur in my side to get on with it. No more excuses, it was time to get rid of the flab. And I am having some success! From my other blog:

OMG. I went back to Old Navy to trade in my too-big size 20 jeans that I bought as a couple of sizes down from the 24s I've been wearing (and still wear with a belt).

Because I wasn't sure, I took a size 18 and a size 16 into the dressing room.

The 18 looked like jodpurs on me. The tag said relaxed seat and thigh, but that was ridiculous. They were a bit too comfy around the waist too. I could buy them, but would shrink out of them pretty quickly.

So I turned to the size 16s with some little hesitation. Because I couldn't POSSIBLY be in a size 16, could I? I still had this big belly. Knowing me, they would fit perfectly everywhere, but the zipper or button wouldn't close. That's the way it always was with me.

They DID fit perfectly. Everywhere. I could close the zipper and the button. The belly area was probably cut a bit larger (they were 16s after all and not size 2), which made for an odd silhouette, but by golly, I was wearing them - and not even gasping for breath. No pliers needed to zip them up.

I am astounded.

This is so exciting. I'm very proud of you that you paid attention to you diagnosis, a lot of people ignore Type II, thinking it's not big deal. Way to go.

Congrats! What an excellent feeling that must have been :)

My Dad and his mother both have type II, I'm still young and not very overweight, but I really should watch my weight and alcohol consumtion and all the rest before I develop it as well.
