Twas the night before Halloween and all over the floor, little goblins were working industriously on decorations for a spooky baby shower!
Halloween was one busy day! First, there was the Halloween baby shower for Diane at work... The auditors were taking up space in the conference room, so we had to move the festivities to one of the studios. That actually turned out to be a very good thing!
We decorated with the kids' drawings (bunnicula was much coveted... people were disappointed when I told them that ZBoy wanted it back), and I baked Circus Cake, Brownies, and made deviled eggs and a graveyard (pictured above). The station bought fried chicken (the mama-to-be's main craving) a fruit platter and a veggie platter. I also borrowed my mom's coffee urn and put apple cider in it. That was a big hit (thanks, Mom!).
And of course, being Halloween and all, costumes were encouraged. Jenn came as a bee, Brian was a pirate, and Suze was a pregnant none.
Get it????
Of course, Suze's "none" was much bigger than Diane's real 8-months/1 month to go bump. And her's popped. Hopefully, Diane won't pop for a few weeks yet...
Isn't Diane gorgeous? She has got that glowy Mommy thing going on!
And this guy is the proud papa, laughing at the idea of carrying a diaper bag. Just you wait, Daddy... you will be subjected to even greater indignities than carrying a diaper bag!
And here's the gang - at least some of them...
Conrad came as himself, Cydia as a Girl Scout, Lydell came as Paul (another co-worker not pictured), Diane the gorgeous mommy-to-be, behind her, Jenn who had to leave to pick up HER sick kid), Brian the Pirate, Me as Sweeney Todd (though here I look more like deranged Raggedy Andy), and Suze the Pregnant None.
I was actually much scarier close up.
I left the red-eye in intentionally... Please note the razor in my vest pocket and the bloody towel in my belt. I really need to practice this shaving thing. Volunteers?
As soon as he got home from school, ZBoy had to get his costume on too! Meet Blue Clone Trooper, at attention and doing something no self-respecting clone would do - questioning an order!
Around 6:30, ZBoy's friend Jesse and his mom and little sister came over to go trick-or-treating.
Trudy's little bat costume was too cute. See the hands?
We waited around until Kylee showed up in her kitty cat outfit. Her mom is really good at putting face paint on her. And the whiskers were very clever (you can click on the picture to see it bigger). It was a bit chilly, but she wouldn't put on her jacket. I suggested that she put her jacket on under her costume so people could still see it, but she decided to shiver instead.
Still, it was a very cute costume...
Once around the block was about all we could take. Lots of houses were welcoming trick-or-treaters this year and it didn't take too long to fill up those bags. This was our house with it's decorations:
Darling Man stayed home to hand out the candy dressed up as a Ninja. He had to change into Guy-in-a-black-TShirt though because he was scaring the parents...
And speaking of scary... how do you like ZBoo as a pair of pants?

DAMN! You are a scarey Sweeney Todd!!!! And I never realized you're so tall!! GREAT costumes - yours and ZBoys. I really have to dress up next year...I've been missing out on the fun :)
Looks like a long fun-filled day! I love Suze's None - at first I thought she was to be the mommy to be and wow how huge!
You are way taller than I remembered and scarier too! ;)
First- great job on the shower. And Z's decorations were sublime. Sorry that I had to eat, give present and run- I came back later in the afternoon, but stayed squirreled away working.
Second- dang, I didn't realize there was apple cider in the pot.
Third- you are a scary Sweeney Todd. I didn't see the scowl at the party. Very, very scary.
:) Buzzzzzz
What a lot of work!
What a lot of fun!
A pregnant NONE ?
Have a great week.
