Fun Monday - Neighbors from Hell

'Tis Fun Monday again, and this time Ari is looking beyond her slab and into the neighbor's back yard.

This is her assignment for us this week:

Tell us about your all-time worst Neighbors from Hell.

I am probably a curmudgeon. I live in a town with three institutions of higher learning and have discovered that I positively hate people in the 18-22 age group, especially if they are attending these schools. I know, I know... they bring money into the local economy. And lots of drunk driving, drug activity, and other crime. They drive like maniacs and have no respect for anyone else - especially the people living next door.

My attitude in these matters pretty much stem from the neighbors we had in the house prior to the one we're living in now. We probably would have bought that house but for the neighbors. I drove through there a couple of weeks ago - the house is still for sale and those neighbors are still there.

I wrote about them quite a bit back when we were actually living there. You can read about it here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here. Gee.. from the number of links (and we only lived there for a year), do ya think I had issues with them?

Thank goodness we only have a relatively quiet drunk (except when he can't see his NASCAR) and an old guy fascinated with his garden and his blower and everyone else's yards as neighbors now. Things are much calmer.

I've just (I'm 24 now) got out of that age group but I was never one of "those" in the age group. I lived in halls of residence on a university campus for a year and it convinced me that I did NOT want to live in the "Student Ghetto" in the city. Now hubby and I live in a relatively peaceful town a few miles away from the city where there are no students apart from me.

Sorry to hear that they plagued you so much :(

Just popping in to wish you a Happy Fun Monday.

You're not a curmudgeon. Living in close proximity to members of Generation YO! would make ANYONE cranky.

I'm going to follow Beedancer and other's advice and do this Fun Monday thing late today or Tuesday.

I already do a Monday Meme but what the heck.

I just finished reading your neighbors posts. You must have been SO relieved to move! We've been really lucky so far and have had odd but quiet neighbors. We did have a woman who lived across the street a while back who would get really drunk about once a week and then go after her hedges with hedge clippers while singing at the top of her lungs but she was always finished and passed out by 9 so it was more amusing than annoying. She's gone now but those hedges are in terrible shape LOL

And that is exactly why I prefer my blogland neighbours anyday over my actual neighbours :-)

Curmudgeon? No. Just someone who likes to have their peace and quiet MOST of the time...
I had to giggle at Sandcastle Mom's comment...she lived next door to Edward Scissorhand...an inibriated one at that.

I actually miss your neighbor stories. They were good for the laughs!

My neighbor likes to let his cat piss on my front porch. I'm thinking poopey diapers need to be placed on his.

we lived in a college town for several years, in fact in campus housing. the only annoying part really was that people didnt always get that everyone had to work even if they were on break from school so they'd party half the night. luckily i had earplugs. oh that and the god awful onion garlic pepper combination smell of someone cooking ethnic food every night at 10pm--unluckily for us we smelled it again here in our new apartment complex, i think they followed us. yuck!

Thank God, you now have peace and quiet. We don't realize how important it is to have good neighbors.

As bad as my current neighbors are, I comfort myself with the thought that they could be students from the university on the next block. Every time the house next door opens up and students come by to look at it I try to scare them away with tales of massive utility bills and hope for the best.

Who needs enemies when you have neighbours like those. No wonder you didn't want to live there permanently.

I second what Sarah said above. I'm thirtysomething now, but even when I was in the college age group, I was never into the drinking/partying and I couldn't stand those who were.

Dashing through the Fun Mondays right now but will be back to read your linked posts about your neighbors!

You ever think of moving to the country where you have room?

Haha! I enjoyed reading back over some of those! I hope you sent that first letter to the boys! But one would have to wonder whether they would know how to read it!

Ah, the Nascar neighbor. We have one of those, a block up the street.

"they" always say that when you go looking at houses, knock on the doors of the neighbors and also see if they have furniture in their yard.

I am betting my heathen neighbor kids end up moving to your area. Sound like they are one in the same - just a few years age difference.

That is unless my neighbor kids end up in jail.

That's highly likely too.

Old men with blowers scare me. It's like they're at war against leaves.

You should never underestimate the need for Nascar!

Did you know that racecar is a palindrome?

Sorry, the attention span is lacking today....good post.

I'm with you on this. The trouble with bad neighbors is that even though there may not have been a recent flareup, you just know it's going to happen soon, like on a Friday night when you're dead tired and just looking forward to a peaceful start to the weekend.
