Fun Monday - "Free" Food!

Ah, Monday again! This week, Margaret the Misanthrope has set for this delicious challenge:
If you could choose one “main course” item and one dessert item that would, just for you, contain zero calories for the rest of your life (or zero cholesterol, zero points, or whatever your most important dietary measure is)…what would you choose?
There are so many ways I am supposed to be limiting my food. Calories, carbs, fats, sugars... you name it and it seems like I should be on a diet consisting of air and water. I must confess that giving up sugar wasn't as hard for me as I would have thought (oh, Queen of the Sweet Iced Tea), but limiting my intake of all things pasta has been sheer torture.

Were it possible, I'd probably have some form of spaghetti with smooth sauce, lots of meat and parmesan cheese most every night. On the nights I didn't eat spaghetti, it would be lasagne or maybe chicken alfredo or even pasta salad. I love pasta! And I can't seem to cut it out entirely. I do compromise a little with whole wheat pasta and I try to keep it to once a week. But if I could have a "free" food, pasta would be it. Closely followed by cheese.
And for dessert? Tiramisu!!! What's not to like? Cake? Creamy filling? Coffee flavor? Chocolate? I could follow my pasta with this anytime!

Now go visit Margaret and see what foods the other participants wish were "free"!

Although I didn't choose it I'm a great lover of pasta and we have it at least once a week.

Also a great choice of dessert.

Good choice, but for me it would be fried chicken.

Another pasta fan here, Sayre! I always read the pasta menu first at a restaurant. Love pasta with vegetables, like broccoli with a bit of olive oil, garlic, pepper flakes and parm. I'm trying some of that "healthy" pasta tonight--Barilla Plus, think its called. Have you tried?

Tiramasu? Chocolate, cofffee, and cream--the holy trinity!

I love pasta but have to say mine would be steak. A big, juicy, almost rare ribeye is probably my favorite thing in the world.

Love tiramisu! I made my own a couple of years ago, which is fun 'cause you can add as much rum as you like!

I too share your passion for pasta, but pizza tops it for me! My secret to dieting is everything in moderation. Being on Weight Watchers, I still eat pasta just not a whole plate full. Have you tried the whole wheat pasta? It's not too bad.

That is one pasta I'd love to have right now! And who can't resist tiramisu?!

so now I must go to Johnny Carino's. I do not know if you have them where you are, but their pasta is really good and they have little tiny desserts including the best tiramisu I've had since my ex-mother-in-law quit cooking for me.

Okay, I did this assignment, but after reading yours, I've changed my mind.

It's all your fault. I HAD to have that for dinner last night!

Well, as much as I love tiramisu, I substituted chocolate cake. It's hard to make tiramisu on a weeknight.

Oh cheese... a close second to you, but #1 for me. I love pasta, but cheese goes with EVERYthing!
