3rd Grade Musical!

Ever since ZBoy started having school events, we've been going.  Presentations, school plays, Fall Festivals, choral concerts... you name it, we've gone.

It made me a little sad to realize that the same thing doesn't happen for my granddaughter.  Her circumstances are different.  Her parents have jobs they can't just call in to and say, "I need to be off for a school function."  So she misses a lot.

Last year, I took her to her Fall Festival.  She was thrilled - ran around, waved at friends and sang karaoke.

We usually keep her on Thursday nights and every other Saturday, and this past Thursday was the 3rd Grade Musical, which I suppose is what replaced the Christmas Pagents of old (like when I was in school).  Her father dropped her off wearing a gorgeous green dress and ZBoy and I took her to her Musical.  After leaving her in the old cafeteria with all the other kids, we went upstairs and found seats in the new cafeteria.  I was somewhat dreading it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I was hoping my videos would upload, but they didn't.  Suffice to say, the music was good, the kids were great, and in some cases, downright hilarious!

They all marched in through the audience, Kylee being very careful not to run into the child in front of her.  When she made it to the stage, she looked for us and beamed hugely when she found us and waved like a bee was circling.  I waved back and smiled.

She looked so pretty up there.  And sang so earnestly.  And was so happy when it was all over.  We went out for frozen yogurt afterwards to celebrate a grand performance.

Granny Nasty's heart appears to be melting a little.
