Fun Monday - Favorite Room

Janis is hosting Fun Monday this week and she wants to know what our favorite room is!

Hmmm... Not even sure where to start here! Since we moved into this house nearly 3 years ago, it's seen a lot of changes. As we walked through, I kept telling myself to look at the space and not the cosmetics. I can always do something about the cosmetics. Since that day, I have done a lot of work - and it's hard to pick a favorite because I put myself into each room I've done.

Let's see.....

The first room I renovated was the downstairs half-bath. It used to have horrible grandma's couch wallpaper and a pink toilet. And a hideous mirror and light fixture. Lots of effort went into this room and I learned a few things along the way about wall paper and what to do and not to do when removing it or painting over it.

The dining room was our second project. When we bought this house, the carpet was in sad shape. The diningroom especially - I think that's where the dogs were penned up during the day because that area was especially... abused. It smelled awful. One day, we invited the inlaws over for dinner and spent the two days before that putting in the new floor and painting. That chandellier is still there, but someday a new one will go in! That light is functional though, so it's not high on the priority list as far as replacement goes. The necessary things are getting done first!

Then there's my son's room. This might be my favorite one. He made a request for a forest room and it took a lot of effort and thought on my part to pull it off. I don't think of myself as an artist, but I drew, then painted in every animal in the room, as well as the trees. It wasn't easy and some of the animals I had to paint were quite challenging, but overall, I'm quite pleased with how this room came out. More importantly, my SON is pleased with his room.

There are other rooms I've done... the computer room is quite comfy, as is the master bedroom. I've renovated the master bath (but can't find pictures) - and I like all those rooms too. I haven't finished the master bedroom though. I rearranged it recently, and it's better, but not quite there yet.

And I'm not done yet... The kitchen and the upstairs bathroom both need to be done. And the family room and living room are just rooms right now. They don't have the furniture they will wind up with and honestly, I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with them yet. Family and livingrooms are at the bottom of my list though.

Go visit Janis to see what the other participants of Fun Monday think are their favorite rooms!

I especially like Z-Boy's room. You put so much artistic work into that room and it looks great! I am with you. I have many rooms in my home that are my favorites. I painted each one and decorated each one myself, so it is hard to pick just one.

I also love Z's room, you did a fantastic job. I guess I don't really have a favourite room here, I like outside better. I think my favourite spot is in the hammock, with a good book of course.

Trying to think, was it Kramer vs Kramer where the little guy got clouds painted on his ceiling? That's a very special thing to do for a child--making a place that's very much his own. From previous posts it seems that you're a real DIYer, taking different spaces in your home and improving them. I admire that so much and could use a bit of your energy to make improvements in my own home.

You did a great job in your son's room ! I think when you just live a few years in a new home you love all rooms, after 35 years it's a little different, lol !

Oh yes....I would get rid of a pink toilet too!

You did a marvelous job with upgrading the decor and the color scheme.

It's all so pretty.

You've done a great job on all of the rooms but Z-Boy's is my favorite. When you finish your place you're welcome to come and start on mine!

My mother in law still has a pink toilet. She kept it even though she remodeled. Ack.

You've done a wonderful with your renovations. The mural in your son's room is great. Outstanding job!

it was fun "doing" his room with you. ha.

I didn't get around to playing along this week. Seems other things are pulling on me lately.

but if I had -- I think each room would be my favorite depending on what I was doing. ha h

Hi Sayre,

ZBoy's room is my favorite. I must have missed the completed pictures. The sun coming up is beautiful! You did such a good job.

I like the colors in the bath. I wanted my bedroom to have a beachy feel and used those colrs for pillows and accent colors.

Great job on your home!

Hi Sayre,

I forgot something. I like the style of your chandelier. Have you thought about painting it? I had an old brass chandelier with drippy crystals that had seen better days. I painted it "shabby" white with some brass showing through and it looked nice. They have that textured spray paint now too.

I honestly dont have a favorite room, I love my 5 room condo so much for that reason, I love every little space. But I was thinking last night as we got into bed to watch a movie how much I love our bedroom
