Fun Monday - Beauty

Julie continues her hosting duties for Fun Monday - this week she wants to know about our favorite beauty product.

When I read that, I thought "Oh Boy... I'm completely out of my depth here." You see, I've never thought about beauty much. I was so bad at applying makeup that I always went with the minimal amount I could get away with. I actually needed makeup - I'm a blonde blonde so my eyebrows and eyelashes are invisible. They're there, but you can't see them without a little color enhancement. I was always jealous of my friend Stephanie who at age 15 could apply makeup - including BLACK eyeliner with a pro's deft hand. Mine always looked like someone had charcoaled a pair of binoculars. But I digress...

With the exception of eyebrow pencils and dark brown mascara, I don't do much in the way of makeup. But beauty products aren't limited to makeup, are they?

That includes things like cleaners, moisturizers, night creams... My favorite? Oil of Olay 30 SPF Facial Moisturizer. It protects my skin from the sun, moisturizes and gives me a nice smooth base on the days that I DO wear makeup. It's not greasy either, which has been a big bug-a-boo for me when it comes to moisturizers.

Complete SPF 30 Defense Daily UV Moisturizer - Sensitive Skin
Infuse sensitive skin with moisture and help protect it against damaging sun rays for skin that looks healthier and younger than before.

• Protects against 97% of the sun’s harmful burning rays with SPF 30
• Replenishes moisture with conditioners including vitamins E, B3 and pro-vitamin B5

I find that when I use this consistently (which actually happens sometimes), my skin is smoother and looks much better than it does when I don't. But to be perfectly honest, I don't seem to follow any kind of routine when it comes to skin care. Bad me. You'd think that as I approach 50, I'd be a little more concerned about this. I'm not. The only time I seem to regularly use it is when the humidity is down (winter) and my skin hurts from being too dry. Go figure.

I think makeup is something that you just love playing with, use minimally because you feel you must, or don't get at all. Skin care is a different matter. All our faces--and neck/bosoms--need moisturizer every day. I agree though that it's annoying in the summer.

I wear only minimun makeup...mascara n blush n lipstick. I do use a moisturizer everyday. Oil of Olay is a good product. I dont like the greasy effect either.

I use dove, but I'm wondering if I'll eventually need some 'super duty' stuff to keep the wrinkles from attacking me with a vengeance! Lol. I rarely use make up. It seems kind of pointless. My daughter will just lick/smear/wear most of it off anyway!

Let's try this again. Your grandmother was consistant in her skin care for as long as I can remember. I, with my young skin, thought her daily routine was excessive. But it must have worked, because at age 84, she had lovely soft skin.

Great series of posts, and when I'm not armpit deep in grandkids, I'll fly back over to read all of them.
Until then:
HAPPY THANKSGIVING ~
