I Wish I Liked Salad...

Went to the doctor today. I hadn't done any blood work (which will be done within the next two weeks) but I brought my body and its wreckage anyway.

I weigh more than I ever have before. Which is weird because my stomach is such a mess, it's hard to believe anything stays in there long enough to absorb any calories or nutrients or much of anything else. We're trying some different drugs this time so something might help.

And my blood pressure is up. 142/90. Even after sitting quietly for 15 minutes it was still the same. Yup - my meds have been upped again.

It's a little discouraging and depressing to find myself in this situation again. My goal is to get off the medications but to do that I've got to get this weight off. And I've been strugging with this for a decade now. I'm sure peri-menopause isn't helping matter much either.

But here I go again - embarking on a healthier lifestyle with more motion, less fat and now no dairy or sugar either. It's not a New Year's resolution per se, but a lifetime one.

I know how you feel. I weigh more than I ever have, too. I was supposed to start Weight Watchers a month ago, something came up, and well, now it's almost January and I've done nothing. This week doesn't look like it will improve things either......

Why don't you, Corky and Z-boy move up here so we can exercise together????

A daily food journal and weekly monitorig of vital stats was keeping me on a verrrr-yyy slow downward creep until the Christmas sugar frenzy. It's a relief to stock the pantry with nutritious food after the holiday. I'm almost there--with the re-stocking. Does your doctor share the resullts of your blood work? It's helpful to know what the numbers mean but often they won't take the time to explain unless you press.

I have been doing WeightWatchers for 12 weeks now and am doing well on it...not too painful at all.

I don't know that it will work for you but it has certainly made my life a little easier.

Wishing you well and keeping you in my prayers.

You can do this! I'm in the same boat and will be walking and exercising my tail off this year.
As well as giving up sugar. Some days I'm excited about it and other days I think that life full of exercise and no sugar can't be much of a life! LOL

I will be doing the same in 2011. I have to be healthy for the people I love!

Yeah, it is definitely a LIFE time change and a commitment. As soon as I lost my 54+ pounds last year, I no longer had reflux. My cholesterol is perfect and I feel so much more energized.

You can DO IT (in my best Cajun accent) :)

I lOVE salad and I have still managed to put on a whopping 15 kilos this past year. Not happy since it took me years to achieve the happy healthy size that I was. I am a pretty healthy eater most of the time so can't work out whats up. Must be lack of exercise! Now that I don't like! hehe!

Four months ago my Dr. told me "no more dairy" in regards to my weight gain and high cholesterol. I did as he said....no dairy and exercised 30 minutes every day (either walking or bike riding). My cholesterol went down to normal limits and my blood pressure improved. Now the Dr. says everything in moderation but I still stay away from milk/eggs/cheese (except for the occasional pizza) and I continue to get in 30 minutes of exercise everyday. It seemed too simple...but it worked!!! I pray you find what works for you.
