Fun Monday - Sounds of Life

Ari at A Prawn of Fate continues her hosting duties for January's Fun Monday with this question:

What is the most beautiful sound in the whole world? Once you've told us that, give us the flip side, too: What is the sound you dislike the most?

One of the common questions people toss out when feeling philisophical is "Which would you rather be, blind or deaf?"

For me the answer to that is DEAF - hands down. The world is a horribly noisy place to me. I have very acute hearing and all that noise is just overwhelming. Thumpy cars, people fighting, dogs barking, cats yowling... All of it is just so much more than I can handle. Don't get me wrong - I like things like music and owls hooting in the night, but if I had a choice between reading a good book or looking at the night sky and hearing - I'd rather be looking.

That said, the most beautiful sound in the whole world to me is my son's laughter, my son's singing, and his whistling. Even when I can't see him, it tells me that all is right in his world - so all's right with mine.

Go visit Ari and see what other people think!

Also, Molly has agreed to host for February - Her link and challenge information will be in my sidebar under FUN MONDAY!

Those are terrific sounds...my husband hums and my dogs snore. There really is no silence any more, is there?

yes, the sound of your kids is the best sound. I guess Ari's topic is almost the same as the wordpress topic. Have a great week Sayre!!

I love hearing Sean sing when he's alone in his room playing Legos. It lets me know he's a happy kid.

That is a wonderful picture of your son. I agree with your perspective on being deaf rather than blind. I love the many beautiful sights that our Earth offers.

Deaf vs blind? I'm with you, Sayre. Just this weekend noticed that I've started keeping the mute on TV and reading close captioning instead. Want the information but can't stand the noise. That will get more common as we get into the 2012 political season.

That's a really happy photo of ZBoy. How old?

I agree. Peace and quiet is wonderful and children's giggles and laughter are intoxicating--can't get enough.

Ah yes, the sweet sound of a child's laughter can be so endearing. It's the constant whining I can't stand. LOL

I agree with you, life has become far too noisy. Wonder if I'm unusual in turning off the sound on my laptop? The more time I spend with my wonderful neighbour who's lost her sight, the more thankful I am to be able to see.
