Living Life

You may have missed me (or maybe not - I don't think that many people actually read this blog) recently.  I've been busy in that everyday kind of way.  I get up every day, get the boy up, take him to school, go to work, and then after work I do the various things I do like meetings and Wednesday night suppers at the church.  Sometimes I just collapse on the couch and veg in front of the TV or do a little dragon-sewing.  I worked hard on the red one I made for my grandmother in Wales' birthday.  The picture is a little dark, but the felt was embossed to look like scales, which were pretty awesome.  It as also enough adornment and didn't need any additional embroidery.  I mailed it off the Monday after her birthday, along with a letter and a few blog posts that I felt kind of summarized the high points of the past year.  She was my first pen pal, the first person I painted pictures on the walls with just for fun, and an inspiration when it came to learning how to be a strong woman in a world that sometimes doesn't value them.

When I finished with the red dragon, I cranked out three more dragons in fairly quick succession.  Of the three pictured above, I think my favorite is the yellow one, though my son thinks the green one is my best one yet.

He seems whimsical to me.  I'm not sure why some of them cock their heads like that.  Uneven tension in stitching, maybe a slightly off cut of a piece.  None of them are perfect, which I think gives them personality (a little like people!).

I haven't been doing much crocheting...  It's just a bit on the warm side for that.  Crochet is a cooler-weather activity in my mind, since I wind up covered up by whatever I'm working on.

My weekends have been pretty full too.  Last weekend we had my in-laws over for lunch and did a really speedy clean up before they came.  This weekend, I'm trying for upkeep.  I removed the things that had accumulated on the diningroom table over the course of a week, dusted and vacuumed the floors in there and the sitting room where Abby reigns.  The family room needs cleaning again too, but not as desperately as last week.  This is the room where we really do live and it's hard to keep neat and clean with The Boy shedding socks and shoes everywhere and animals shedding hair everytime they breathe.  Dishes seem to migrate in there, but at least they don't have to go far to find the kitchen again.  And there's the neverending laundry already in progress - I think that if it weren't for laundry, I could accomplish so much more in this life...

This past Friday was the beginning of Spring Break for my son.  I always have great plans of what I'm going to get done during Spring Break, but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment.  I still need to clean out my garage (goal two years ago), finish painting the upstairs hallway and stairway (goal last fall), fix the stairs (since forever), clean the upstairs (choking on hairballs up there) and find all my tax stuff to give to my tax guy.  That's on top of just doing the regular stuff and I can plan all I want, but I can tell you that few of those things will get done.  The tax thing will because it HAS to and I've already been putting that off because it means digging around in my bedroom which would do a hoarder proud.  I'm NOT a hoarder, but when things get cleaned up downstairs, it tends to get tossed into my room and before I know it, I'm stepping over boxes and baskets in there.  Really need to get that done.

Darling Man and The Boy took the dogs for a bike ride this morning.  As they stood at the back door, which is covered with dog spit, my son decided to take their pictures.  They look like ghost dogs.  The pictures are pretty darned cool though!

I love your dragons and the yellow one in particular. You've reminded me I have some crochet I need to finish off.

I still love my blog and am always pleased when old and new readers comment but I don't have that much in my life that am willing to write about. Willie is dangerously overexposed right now. More and more bloggers that I follow are into photography. I enjoy that too but sometimes am thinking that miss the point about blogging which is to challenge yourself to write well about ordinary things. Most of the time pretty pictures win out.

You have a full life so just do what feels right. And. when in doubt, make a few dragons!
