about:blank

Do you know what that is? It's the name of the opening internet explorer page when you don't want your computer to go to anything when you go to the internet. It's the Un-Homepage. What you get is all the toolbars and address windows - but no content. Just a blank page where a web-page usually goes.

That's me for the last couple of days. I've got all my tools, and the potential for posts is out there or in here, swimming around in my brain. But when I sit down to actually write a post, all I come up with is about:blank.

I think my brain needs a tiny vacation.

There's just too much going on. Work is crazy. I still have Nielsen reports to do, and quarterly reports to start and a pledge drive starting at the end of next week, so the money people are screaming for information that keeps changing on a daily basis. It's almost not worth giving them ANY information because as soon as I do, some "revised" document will pop up, making the previous information worthless. It's been that kind of drive so far and the darn thing hasn't even started yet.

Perhaps I'll be inspired later, but for now? Where's my coffee?

Wait - how come you have Nielsen reports to do for a PBS station? Ooooh I love our industry and I am big sad I am leaving it.

It's apparently an overall audience count (since we don't set commercial rates). I didn't even know we did such a thing until someone handed me the booklet and the website address and said, "here, do this." Our industry is lots of fun and pretty altruistic, but there's not much money to be made and it's not the most stable job in the world...

I didn't realize you were still in the industry!

Please don't take a break! I will miss you too much. Besides I live quite happily with nothing going on in my head.

It's not just you. Honest.

I find that blogging keeps me sane, although I may just be kidding myself. But there are times the idea of a break is...appealing.

Sometimes I like it when my mind is About Blank.

I am right there with you. I have a ton swimming in my head; I just seldom have time to even sit down and write (or read). I am just forcing myself now! ;)

Personally, I think that for not having anything to say, this was actually a pretty creative post! Usually when I'm having an about:blank day, my posts go like this: "I have nothing today, talk amongst yourselves". So, you see, yours was much more creative! ;-)

Don't worry, we're not going anywhere :-)

Take a break if you need it. We won't forget you.

Yes, I have been lucky to blog twice a week. But I will keep checking in. Take a break if you need it. We will still be here.

I'm trying to make myself understand that every post doesn't have to be a lengthy literary essay. That's what keeps me from posting more often.

You mentioned public television. If you have anything to do with programming the Jane Austen series, thanks a million! I'm loving Mr. Darcy.

loved this post Sayre. I'm in the same position , except that there is nothing swimming around in my head. I just have nothing to say ... my blog is sooooooo boring. LOL!!!

I still want to blog but there's not much happening and not having my own computer has really taken a bite out of me. Hopefully I'll get a new one by the end of March.
