I will start by setting your minds at ease. I had my second mammogram today, followed by an ultrasound and a consultation with the doctor. The bad news is that there are three lumps. The good news is that two of them appear to be fluid-filled and cystic, indicating the serious onset of fibrocystic breast disease. The not so good news is that one of the lumps appears solid. It is not very big and and according to the doctor appears benign, but she wants me back in six months to check it again. If it has grown, we will then need to discuss removing it and doing a biopsy.
Nothing awful at the moment. I am feeling optimistic and will go into the new year doing everything I can to make sure I am my healthiest self ever.
On a lighter note, most of my family went to see NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. Yes, it was corny and predictable, but the special effects were great and we laughed... A LOT. Micky Rooney had me in stitches. And Ben Stiller is his wonderful wacky self. Anne Meara plays his employment counselor, which was a nice surprise. Fun movie!
Thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts. It made today much easier.

Don't you miss that 6 month appointment or I will come down to the FL and KICK your butt.
Wow, Sayre. I've been so busy I haven't had time to keep up. I didn't know. I'm sure everything will be okay.
Have a terrific Christmas.

...this is really good news..if she feels she doesnt need to check it for 6 months..then you make sure you dont be worrying either..
It is good that they did all the tests and have thoroughly researched it all...
I do not often talk about this but..
I have had quite a few surgeries over the years..most of them have been "preventative" type..I had what they termed "pre-cancerous" growth cut out of my back, I had a large "suspicious" lump taken out of the side of my neck to be biopsied..I have had many moles all removed and checked.. ( and like I mentioned the lump in my breast that turned out okay.).
My doctor has me I guess as a high ( not risk..for cancer...but I guess concern for cancer.. due to these surgeries needing to be done as well as because of their findings...
But you know I really hardly ever think about this stuff..I go to my appointments and I do self exams and I check and monitor any thing that doesn't look right...
Which is really what every one should do..if you know what things always look like wether it be a mole or a lump ..then if it changes you will notice..and if you notice you can have it looked at...
anyways..as always I am long winded..but ..bottom line..You are doing good kid..you will be kicking round for long time...so have a super christmas and happy new year..
Well, you best to just keep us posted.
And I will be willing that little lump to just disappear.
Sayre - Please keep us informed. You have been a great new blog friend, and I want to see you healthy.
Have a great Christmas :)
Sayre, I left you a comment on my blog about my experience with this. I've been in your shoes and I know how scary it is. But if they think it looks benign, that's VERY good! They could tell my tumors were benign on the sonogram and they were right (I had them removed and biopsied)
I also have fibrocystic breast disease and my boobs hurt like heck whenever I'm PMSing. Advil really helps with that.
I'll be praying for you!! ((((HUGS))))
