Fun Monday - My Favorite Things!

In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas tree ornament. Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree. I want you to zoom in and show me one or a few (you know I can’t choose just one!) of your favorite ornaments. If you don’t decorate a tree, show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log. I want to see your favorite decoration for this holiday season - so sayeth Kaytabug, our host for this week!

I've had lots of ornaments that I've gathered over the years:

These Santas started with the gift of a hand-painted guy by a now-defunt sister-in-law. A few years later, another one joined him. The last one I bought is the tall guy with the deer.

I've always loved this version of Santa - surrounded by the wild animals. Once ZBoy came along, the bunny lost one of his ears, but otherwise, he's in fairly good shape.

Speaking of ZBoy, he had his first Christmas at age 7 months. We learned quickly that regular ornaments would not survive. I went out and bought a bunch of tiny stuffed animals and made those our ornaments for the next two years.

But I'd have to say that these are my favorites. I embroidered them from pictures I'd taken of Darling Man while we were dating. The needlework was pretty good, for me, even if the rest of the ornament looks a bit like a spider's egg sac. I gave them to him the year we were married.

Now, go see everyone else's favorites! You can find the list at Kaytabug's!

I am in awe that you designed and executed those ornaments yourself. Great job.

the ones we make are always the favorites.

In 50 years... the grandkids will tell their kids: "These were designed and crafted by my grandma."

The stuffed animals are a great idea. I think that my daughter-in-law is using cookie cutters for ornaments this year(instead of the breakable versions) as my granddaughter is not yet three

I love the hand painted Santas, although I never had Santas as Christmas decoration before the 90th. It only came up here in the 80th and I finally had to buy one for my little son. We have more angel decoration and a nativity scene.

Santa and the animals is my favorite of your bunch. The needlepoint ones are nice, too. I never could quite get the hang of doing that. Nice ornaments. Nekked Lizards

You have a lovely diverse collection. I like the Santa's and your embroidered ones but I know my two youngest grand children would love the stuffed animals.

I love the Santa's - am partial to them because I have an ever growing Santa collection. (I can't believe I didn't take pictures of one of them. Hmmm. Where is my mind?)

The homemade ornaments are the best. Because they have such good memories.

Wow. Embroidery as a photo? That's amazing. I'm with you on preserving the good ones with the little kiddo around. None of my best ones are up this year.

I'd kill for those Pooh ornaments. Hey, that tall santa looks like Gandalf performing Mickey Mouse's role in Fantasia.

I just read your post on another site and I just had to tell you you brought tears to my eyes!! i too always wonder how will they know how much I love them? And when I read your question it came to me..Your Love!!!
I too wish my mom was more into things like that but she's not..I go overboard with my kids becuse I don't ever want them to feel the way I have. So My love will help them!!! now I must go back and look at your ornaments!!!

Homemade ones are great. I have a personal fondness of Rudolph the RNR line of stuffed animals and ornaments. I don't know, why.
