Fun Monday - Collections

This week's Fun Monday is all about stuff. Our host, Mariposa wants to know:
Collections... We all have them...and if you don't, you do....you just may not realize it. For some reason or another we all collect something and we collect it for reasons that will definitely make for good reading. So on Monday, I want to see your collection. If you don't have or don't want or CAN'T (wink) show us a picture, then tell us what the collection is in 10 words or less. Then tell us why you started collecting it.

Again, I thought this was easy. Then I started looking around.

Surely I collect something.

These?

Maybe. But when you collect something, it's rather open-ended, isn't it? I mean, has my mom ever said, "Gee. I think I have enough teapots."? Or has any museum decided that it had enough art? When collecting, it appears that enough is never enough. I have plenty of animals, and tempting as it is sometimes, I do believe I have enough.

Same with kids. I got the best one anyway, so who needs more?

There was serious casting around happening all week. I thought about it when I was walking the mall on Friday. What do I collect? Actually, it should have been obvious to me from the start.

Collection 1 collection 2

I mean, for me, bookshelves are a major investment. And I needed a house big enough to contain my husband, my son, my animals - and my books.

collection 3 Book 1

Books aren't just on book shelves. They're on nightstands, the floor, stacked up in the garage, still hiding in boxes (no, they're not all unpacked yet).

Book 2 Collection 4

A house is not a home without BOOKS.

Collection 6 Collection 7

I need these. My playground for my mind.

I love books, but right now, my daughter has more books than I have because the State has this reading program that sends her a book every month, plus the ones we have bought, plus the ones she has received from people

A lot of people seem to be in the same collection with you. Having to move often, I find Libaries are my friend and people don't use them nearly enough.

Books! Yes indeed! And I think we would get along IRL, b/c your bookcase looks like ours used to...eclectic, with decorations next to a skull, next to a Pringles can. Genius.

Love your statement "Playground for the mind". Books are always a good way to escape into another place.

I see someone else also noticed the Pringles!

Books are the most popular collections, I've seen so far. I didn't even give books a thought and we have them all over the house!

I didn't notice the Pringles can until I uploaded the picture... At which point I decided to leave it and not go take another Pringle-less picture. Those are courtesy of my son whose idea of decorating involves leaving things around the house wherever he puts them down.

The skull is what's left of a Halloween decoration. I've been surrepticiously discarding bones here and there until now we only have the skull. Sometimes it wears a hat or sunglasses. Yoric apparently was going au naturale for this one.

Your cats are cute, the dog looks faithfull, the goldfish, well .. ;-) it's a goldfish, and your son is unique! And so many books!! You're a very lucky lady, but I bet you already knew that?

I used to collect books but ran out of room so I gave them away. Now it is just me and the teapots.

Oh Sayre--what is the breed of your dog? He/she has very interesting markings and looks very intelligent.

I don't think you ever run out of reading material--a good thing.

We THINK she's a shepherd/whippet. She has a deep but narrow chest and looks like a FAST dog. And she jump up in the air like whippet. My husband used to live with some and thinks she's quite "whippet-y".

You can have all the kitties in the world, sorry I'm a dog person. Kitties are pretty, I'll just pass. But I'll fight you for books. :)
