Fun Monday - Outside In

It's Fun Monday again and Julie is hosting on this anniversary week!
This week is the 2nd Anniversary of Fun Monday. Fun Monday began by everyone showing photos of their view out their front door. For the 1st Anniversary, we did it again. This time I wanted to change it up a bit. I asked everyone to take a photo from their front door facing the interior of their home instead of the exterior.

I did not straighten up a bit before I did this. I like to call this "legitimate mess". That means there's a reason for it to be there. Mainly because I'm doing renovation elsewhere and the livingroom is the staging area. It is rather neat because my husband shoved it all to one side rather than leaving it in the middle of the room, which is what I did.

When you walk in, you can see straight through to the family room (and see whatever is on TV - which, miraculously, is off at the moment).

Immediately to the right is the staircase. I still haven't put the handrail up. It's easier to maneuver big stuff up and down without it in place. Since there still the vanity to take upstairs, the handrail is still down. To the right as you walk in are two chairs from my grandmother's house, a painting by my husband and the piano in the livingroom. The rosebush is inside hiding from the freeze outside, but I think it can go back out tonight. The long white things on the floor are mouldings. I have an idea about how to mount a mirror at the bottom of my stairs. The bottom of the mirror is broken, so I'm going to make a frame out of the mouldings to sit it in.

More livingroom. On the far left of the picture is all the stuff that still needs to go upstairs to the bathroom I'm working on. The picture on the right is my entry table. Mail gets tossed here and that 46 year old teddy bear presides over it. My grandfather bought him at FAO Schwartz in New York for me when I was born. He's not terribly cuddley and has definitely seen better days, but he's a part of me and reminds me of people I love far away.

He was missing an eye and while I was doing upholstery stuff, my husband suggested an upholstery tack as a substitute. It works and if you don't look too closely, he doesn't look too robo-bear.

Gratuitous boy shot. And a reminder of why I like coming through my front door everyday.

HEY!! Where's my new bathroom pics woman! ;)

I love that you have a 46 year old FAO Schwartz teddy bear. I wish I had something like that, that was such an amazing link to my life. And the tack works just fine.. shhhh..we won't tell Teddy. :D

Your home looks so welcoming, though! I think we all have "legitimate messes" around...and not all of us are renovating :-) I didn't do FM this week, because I didn't think a pic of my cats' litterbox would go over very well. I'm enjoying "visiting" everyone else! Happy FM to you!

remodeling (renovating) is such a tough job. I'm surprised you have any sanity left. We remodeled both bathrooms at the same time - because one of the walls had to be moved. What a riot!

I enjoyed your tour and teddy --

We are thinking about remodeling our bathroom too - and I just know soon there will be stuff everywhere!

That is exciting that your home is being renovated. At the end of the renovation, you will have a new home. The cute kid is a mighty good reason to enter your home.

(Is that Jesus sitting behind the potted rosebush?)

I am a firm believer that Teddy Bears should only have one eye.

Thanks for the visit. This has been a fun topic. Love the Teddy Bear, I think he also has different colored foot-pads, too.

Good luck with the renovation, all your hardwork will be worth it in the end. That smiling face in the last photo is certainly worth coming through that door everyday.

Ahhhh! Thats one cute boy! Totally distracted me from the mess! LOL! I had to laugh at the mail pile, normally we have one of those just inside the doorway as well, but CG actually had a cleaning fit the other day and made me get rid of it! I know shock horror, the girl is finally started to help her mama, today she has done all the floors while I was out fetching supplies! What a sweetie!

Is that a dream catcher I see? Beautiful! As for the bear...I have a Pooh Bear from when I was born that looks to be in the same exact condition as yours...loved very much!

First, congratulations on your renovation prowess, Sayre. Yes you can! Do you have any closeup photos of your husband's paintings? They look very bold with great colors. I got to go in FAO S one time as an adult. Can only imagine how excited a child would be. And, nice gratuitous boy shot!

My eyes immediately went straight to your bear-he's lovely.

Have you done any posts about your husband's paintings, it would be good to see them.
