This past week's Fun Monday started me thinking about how people of the last generation dealt with economic stress. There were several mentions of moms or grandmothers who made globs of soap out of leftover slivers or saved breadwrappers to use again and again. My own grandmother did those things too.
It was part of growing up during the Depression and living through WWII and rationing.
I've heard on the news that we are facing our own "Depression" here in the states and foreign countries aren't immune from this either.
So here's your challenge:
What are you and your family doing to deal with the current economic situation on a personal level? Obama's got a plan for the nation, but how do you/will you deal with your own economic stress?

My husband & I save water by showering together!
I promise to get out of my rut and try and join in this week. I just realised I have missed quite a few weeks. Put me on the list please. :-)

We (I) are planting a garden for the first time in years.
What does it mean to host Fun Monday? Do you write a funny post for a particular Monday?!?
Am I worthy?????
Hmm. Interesting topic. I'll play.
We are saving by cutting our food bill in half, do not go out to eat anymore, and shut off our cable.
We don't have an Obama, but a crisis too. Around me life continues as usual but the younger once have certainly difficulties.
It's not a very funny theme for a Monday, but sign me in.
Your blog isn't loading properly. I've tried several times and I only see the sidebar. Must be a "Blogger Glitch". I went out and logged off completely and then rebooted...clearing all the cookies and such. It finally loaded.
I'm not sure I can come up with anything as our life hasn't changed all that much over the last decade.
I'm in Sayre. As Gattina observed, it's not exactly a "fun" topic but one that's on most of our minds. It'll be revealing to see how all of us deal with this. We may pick up a few good strategies from other "Fun Mondayers".

So, I've been tagged for this, but I don't really know how this works. Do I need to write a complete piece for you to put here? Help me out here!
For one, I'm only eating what the children don't eat. Almost, but not quite. Plus, no eating out (that's bad for the economy however) and drifting down any hills we can find (unfortunately we live in flat Florida.) It has the lowest high point of any other state, even miniscule RI.
Please sign me up to play Sayre.
I'm in please!
