The BEST Medicine

You may have gathered from recents posts that the past month has not been the best 30 days of my life.

I've taken lots of different medications to deal with various problems, but NONE of them has matched the healing power of the last couple of days.

I went back to work on Monday and began checking in with my friends there. My stop in Jennifer's office was most entertaining. She's been pretty sick herself (it is absolutely eerie how our lives have been mirroring each other this year), but had dragged her pneumonia-stricken self into the office for a few hours. And she gave me a gift basket she had put together in honor of my mammogram/ultrasound to aid in my recovery from a serious tit-squishing. Soft aloe socks to keep my toes warm. A lavender candle to soothe my nerves. A soft pillow. And a very soft shirt by Vera Wang (you gotta love a shirt that has the word "wang" on it somewhere, says J).

Care Package

Jennifer is quite simply the queen of the gift basket!!! It is her loving thoughtfulness (as well as her wicked sense of humor) that makes me adore her as a friend.

Yesterday was Tasha's birthday, but she spent the day at home - so today we gathered for lunch at Cabos to celebrate her day. My little gang of friends. I called Suzanne to see if she could come, but she's just bought a house and was juggling contractors so was unable to make it.

But Betsy, Kim, Tasha, Jennifer and I had a lovely, funny lunch together. Crazy stories of kitty love toys, teenager angst, conforming in elementary school and many, many more had me laughing so hard my muscles in my stomach ached - but in a much better way than from stomach cramps. And I walked out of there feeling so much better than I had in ages.

Lunch at Cabos

Jennifer's hand, Betsy, Kim and birthday girl Tasha.
We just finished lunch and naughty dessert and were feeling quite fine!

And here's the rest of Jennifer. Infectious smile, bubbly laugh.

I am a lucky, lucky woman to have these women in my life.

Glad to see a post, my friend. You are lucky indeed to know such fabulous women! And woohoo for lavender candles. I really think that heaven (or my heaven, at least) would smell like lavender.
