This week's challenge is all about Spring. Here is what I want you to do.....Take a photo of whatever represents Spring to You....and tell us why.
Spring is my time of year. Not my favorite time of year (that would be fall), but I feel a certain ownership of March because that's my birth month. Every year, the season turns - then a couple of days later it's my birthday!
My husband knows me well... When confronted with the "don't get me anything for my birthday" line, he goes and buys me flowers:
And sometimes vegetables:
I go outside and look at our front "flower" bed, which looks brown and overgrown with weeds and dead plants. This year's freezing weather knocked a few of my favorite plants out.
I love working in the yard, but my thumb isn't very green - which is why I really appreciate the things that happen without my help:
The azaleas are beautiful this year and getting a late start. The tea olive is blooming away though and evidence of everything else blooming is all over the leaves.
Funny. Growing up here, I never really noticed or thought about the pollen. Now that I'm over 40, my nose and my head let me know of spring's arrival long before anything else does.
As of today, I am READY!
Aren't these cool? Bamboo fabric gardening gloves!

Yep, those are great gifts. Love the gardening gloves.
Cool gloves! Maybe some of the green will rub off on your thumb...lol.
It'll be quite a while before azaleas bloom here, they 'belong' to Summer.
What thoughtful and useful presents!
hope you enjoyed your birthday!
Your Hubby is a smart man..can't go wrong buying flowers. Being familiar with Fl. living..I am always amazed at what you can grow outside in the flower beds..plants that are considered a house plant here in the Mid Atlantic, thrive in the Fl flower beds. Thanks for playing Sayre n happy FM
BAMBOO gloves ! They must be exquisite. I bought my new grandson some outfits made from bamboo, and they were the softest ever. Bamboo gloves would be great for some of my gardening, but where the cacti, tumbleweed, etc. are concerned, I need steel-fingered, as opposed to steel-toed, gloves !
Happy Spring birthday!!
I like to enjoy my garden, but I don't like to work in it ! so I kept it very easy. Grass and bushes around and some flowers in pots, lol !
I hate autumn, spring is my time ! I spring too (to the ceiling when the sun is shining !)
Smart hubby--when in doubt, buy flowers and make a dinner reservation! I would not make a very good FL gardener--too hot too soon. Kudos to you for trying. BTW, I read your birthday post. Took the "real age" test(Dr. Oz version?)and was encouraged with my life expectancy if I made some changes. I love your attitude.
I love new garden gloves! Now I want a bamboo pair!
Well then, happy Birthday a few days late. Enjoy your season of gardening.
Let me know how your hanging tomatoe garden works for ya. I was thinking about trying the topsy turvey tomatoe garden. We simply don't have the ideal space for a vegetable garden.
Those are great springy gifts. My plants got nailed by the super cold too.
Bamboo is a wonder plant. There's almost nothing you can't use if for.
Hi Sayre....in response to your message on my "Begging for a volunteer blog. I feel like Fun Monday is coming to a screeching halt. I have talked with a few of the old timers of fun monday and they all have said they liked it better when there was a photo challenge... The good thing is we have a few newbies that have joined in. Do you think we should take a break from it for a while? Or try to revamp it....How about we take next Monday off because its the day after a holiday...just my thoughts...or start every other week.. contact me on email and we can maybe come up with a solution...maybe take a poll from the players as to what they would like to see. Sure would hate to see Fun Monday die. Thanks for always volunteering.
Im just now getting around to last week's posts. Terrible. Hope you have a great week!
