The Georgia Girls are hosting Fun Monday for the month of March. Their challenge this week...
Mar 7: List 5 things you are willing to spend your hard-earned cash on and 5 things you would rather steal (hypothetically of course) than waste your money on. (we already know doctors, insurance, and taxes are down right painful.)
What would I splurge on?
Real dark chocolate. Good English tea. Comfortable mattress. Reliable car. Well-fitting shoes.
What would I be reluctant to spend money on?
Name brand clothing (no swooshes for me). Fancy, ineffective hair care products. National brand when store brand is actually better (groceries). Cable TV. Perfume.

Okay, I have a mattress question since think you're a very savvy consumer. I desperately need to replace mine as just adding more foam toppers is not helping my back. What do you recommend?
My favorite off the shelf chocolate is Cadbury fruit and nut but I'm wimpy--like milk chocolate so can't even pretend to eat it for medicinal purposes. :-)
I know you asked Sayre, but I can't help but to join in here and answer the mattress question. Two years ago, we invested in a TemperPedic Mattress and I LOVE it. It was more expensive than other mattresses and took a few days to get used to, but it has been great and my neck and back feel better.
Great lists Sayre.
Oh mattresses, due to some back issues, we were on the search for the perfect mattress and purchased a Sleep Number mattress. Unfortunately, we yielded to temptation and bought one with the pillow-top. The addition probably diminishes the effect of selecting the "perfect" mattress firmness. Later, we bought a mattress for the guest room in our new home. Our goal was to buy a good mattress, but not necessarily the top of the line. The guest bedroom mattress, Sealy Perfect Sleeper Parkfield, is superb.
Well fitting shoes are essential. Unfortunately, I will admit I do wear a pair that are a little tight, but look great -- only once a week on Sunday.
Okay, after severl comments on sheets and mattresses, I'm going to do a post on it and have all the comments in one spot. We found a perfect mattress, too.
I didnt think of a good mattress for a splurge...but it is good to invest in a comfortable one. You n I are on the same page about brand names...come on...why make them rich...the store brands are just as good!
I forgot to tell you,,I like your new blog design.
mmm chocolate, has to be dark, plain something like Green & Blacks...
Might I suggest an Earl Grey Green Tea infused Dark Chocolate bar? Organic, of course! :) Mr. AP just bought some yesterday and he has been in foodgasmic bliss.
